Invitational Suspicions
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
These times we live,
Come to stay...
Even more amazing.
Than those times more have witnessed,
Already labelled incredible.
Yet more is promised,
To become a way of life.
So many these 'believable' days.
Flawed and made mentally distracted.
Seem attracted and attached,
To addicting activities.
With their noses pressed,
Against closed windows to peek.
As if professional nosey bodies.
Prepared to create,
Fresh and factless rumors.
Eliminating truth to add their own spice.
For the purpose to entice,
A gossip to share and spread...
With others incapable,
Of finding time...
Minding their own business.
Something once done,
Before social media became the 'rage!'.
In these,
Solicited invitational suspicion days...
In which people crave awaiting,
Their invitations to accept.
First sent to express to local neighbors.
Before this 'fire' spreads,
As innocent whispers to ignite...
More spice to add to juicy lies told.
Filling up empty heads sold to sell.
Leaving no one to admit or volunteer,
From where such nonsense...
Did they hear in their ears.
But most will eventually confess,
The taste and deliciousness of it...
They could not refuse or reject.
'Even though your suspicions,
Had been proven to be untrue?
And those lied upon,
With their characters assassinated.
Along with identities.
As well as their dignities too?!
While you allowed yourself,
To participate in this degradation.
What else is left,
That people like you will not do?'
'Uh...hold up!
Excuse me?
Before you accuse me,
Of such unwarranted allegations.
Were you sent an invitation,
To first nibble then taste...
A mouthful of that delicious stuff?'
'No!
I can not say I was on that list.'
'So...
There you have it.
From your accusing mouth.
To my opened wide ears.
How dare you?
And tell me this...
Devotee of hypocrites.
What difference should it make,
Who has been victimized?'
'What a thoughtless,
And terrible thing to say.
I happen not to be,
That kind of hypocrite.
I think of myself to more considerate.'
'And...
Your point?
Is what?'
'You and others like you,
Are doing your best to destroy humanity!'
'There you go attempting to blame me.
I did not send the invitation.
I was the recipient of it.
For whatever the reason,
I had been picked and selected.'
'You could have turned it down.'
'And you could have found a way,
To find time to mind your own business!'
'I...
Huh?
