Melodic Night

Claudia Krizay 1956 (Washington DC)

Melodic Night

The sun has set and the moon glimpses
From beyond a myriad of stars.
Rhythmic music rings throughout the skies.

Timbrels chime as harp strings are lightly strummed
By unseen angels in the heavens.

My thoughts would journey across the universe.
Where the skies transform to a rare shade of mauve.

The moons of Saturn illuminate the darkness as
Unknown souls hum their tuneful arias-
Here where life is eternal-

Lustrous meteor showers decorate this night.
I would capture them within a web of silver promises,
Inside the world of my imaginings-

I am alive inside of a dreamworld
From which I care not to awaken.

Through my eyes I would follow the sun
As it slowly descends before a river
That flows behind the tallest mountains.

The moon wanes on this clear summer’s night-
I find myself in a different world, in this vast and constant universe.

The sun shall always hide at dusk
And Venus shall become the sorcerer of the darkness-
Playing games with the stars in tune with this melodic night.
