AFFLICTION

Republic writhes in ignominimity,
Hubris, incompetence led to calamity.
What brought US here? What did we seek?
What specters taunt, and make US bleed?

A frozen instant, slice of time,
A glimpse of past, now current crime.
As boxes draped in banners return,
Parents' hearts break, their kids are gone.

Our soldiers die for no good reason,
Displayed for enemy, as turkey season,
Commanders lead into dead end,
To our foes they give a hand.

To lead us, feeble mind was sent,
Matters of state have gotten sad.
The choice was poor, vindictive, hasty,
This rotting head pollutes, it's nasty.

Duplicity begets deception,
No good could come of this for our nation,
Since Falsehoods are reused each day,
Deceit Machine is here to stay.

Prestige and freedoms disappear,
People observe, in disbelief and fear.
Emotions ebb and feelings flow,
Internal passions gather, grow.

Our might persists, republic is strong,
Yet will to fight, seems to have gone.
Second amendment, strong deterrent,
Yet, who will go against the current?

When common sense no longer common,
When ruler's push what's misbegotten,
When obvious becomes obscure,
Time has arrived to search for cure.
