Something about Sand

Castles of conscious creativity
smoothed effortlessly by one single wave
So I wave goodbye
I try to avoid the lie that there was any real value in that hill of sand
in that hill I planned on making
I wasn’t taking into account
The amount of sand on the beach
That I could never reach
A grain of sand
and to each their own
I’ve never known this metaphor before
But it’s clear as day that a needle in a stack of hay
Is less like me to my dismay
Than a speck of sand in a castle
On a sandy shore
Nothing more than a castle of conscious creativity
Im nothing less than relatively small
no more than relatively tall
My ideas mean no more than what I can achieve and my accomplishments might be all I leave on this earth
But on the day of my birth i was still just a speck of sand
Sure my body did expand and my mind has fanned across the board
I’ve explored this and that but I’ve never known any surface that is flat enough to lay the foundation of my future
I had to be an artist
I had to be a suture to sew all I know into anything I could ever use
And still
Im a speck of sand
In the hands of who knows what
Maybe I was planned or maybe we were planted by mistake
A big boom and now a decorated cake each year
I only hear everything
Crashing waves flattening the fiery attempts to be taller than relatively
Wind blowing out the sparks of something new
You’re just like me, im just like you
And all together
All we do
Is be the castle
