Why did you walk away?

Allissa Bruch 1988 (Nazareth)

You left when I was young
We had no clue what to do
You never turned back
Just kept walking further away
No thought of me in mind
Have you ever really cared
Children need their parents
To stand by them day and night
To teach them wrong from right
Not to watch them walk out of their life
Luckily someone else stepped up
When you stepped down
It helped me realize I was better off without you around
When I was sad, They wiped me tears
You weren't there throughout the years
When I was sick, you didn't comfort me
When I was hurt, you didn't bandage me
You instead abandoned me
I've learned I don't need you
Someone else stepped up to the plate
To help raise the child that you left
They made a choice to love me when they didn't have to
And for this I am better off without you.
