Bravely

B.H. Godby 1986 (Berlin)

As I go bravely into the night,
may the fight be worth it.
And though venture deign flight,
may not fear perturb it,
however I be fair and young under the dawning sun,
I know I've just begun the war.
Ist the door to absolute absyllium
willst my mourning grave be cloaked in chrysanthenum
or will the poppies flair where I dare to roam
E're on, glistening O! shining star of nocturn.
Celestial spence of havenspence denote
e'ry soldier cascades his dream 'pon ship and boat
and though my castle craveth a moat
my muddy boots glean the ground with thunder.
May I live on before the enemy puts me under.
As I go bravely into the night, may the fight be worth it;
As I go bravely into the night,
it is worth it.
