Jesus Is My Pillow

Jesus Is My Pillow
by Wendy Burns

He’s there as a comfort to me
He’s a cushion to break my fall
He’s my support when I lay my head to rest
He’s my security after all

A day without Jesus is like a bed without a pillow
Bare, hard, and unmade you see
If it’s said you make you’re own bed to lie in
It would be foolish to make it without Thee

So after a day’s worth of troubles
When you lie down in bed to sleep
Have with you the ‘good book’ and your pillow
And give your troubles for dreamland to keep

About this poem

I wrote this poem in 1988 around the time I was baptized in a small northeastern Texas town. I submitted the poem to Poetry.com and received a copy-write from the site in return. At that time, they wrote me saying my poem would be included in a poetry collection ‘coffee table’ book center piece. It was around $50 they said but I did not have the money at that time to purchase a copy for myself. I was in my late twenties then and will turn 60 years old this fall. I would love to find a copy of the book that included my Jesus Is My Pillow poem for sentimental purposes. Thank you.
