EVIL NIGHT DWELLERS

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Evil night dwellers
Stalk this haunted town,
Where nothing good resides
All life has gone to ground.

Evil night hunters
Hunting human prey,
Feeding through the night
Then slinking slowly off by day.

Hoping to catch couples
Foolishly walking outside late,
Unaware of slobbering horrors
About to seal their fate.

Pitch black is the right time
For these evil carnivores,
Running down and killing
Any fools they find outdoors.

On a moonless night
Evil creatures abound,
Hoping to find humans
To run them to the ground.

Bat-wing and scaly
Like prehistoric monsters,
Lumber leviathans are like
Flesh-eating dinosaurs.

Overhead night dwellers soar
Hunting human beings,
Devouring all they catch
These shrieking, killing fiends.

Loathsome night dwellers
Filling the darkened streets,
Hoping soon to feast upon
Anyone the dwellers meet.
