I died for love

In the city where I dwell
  I met this man I loved so well
Now he's gone and set me free
  And say a new girl on his knee
I ran straight home to my bed
  Not a word was said
My dad came home late that night
  He looked for me from left to right
To my room my door he broke
  And found me hanging from a rope
On my dresser this note he found,

        Oh dig a grave and dig it deep
            Place my headstone at my feet
          On that stone please place a dove
                 Too show the world
                           I died for love.
