Team

I would like to take this opportunity,
To mention.
Before the anticipated festivities begin.
I want everyone here,
To remember the meaning...
Of team player.

No one sitting listening to hear this,
Is not 'The Team'.
Or should consider themselves,
An exception.
But a member picked to be a part of it.
Any questions.
Yes. Go ahead.

'When I accepted your invitation.
I did not expect this.
Neither do I live here.
Nor am I into sports.'

Whose talking about sports?
That to do may come later.
However...
When invited in my home,
As a dinner guest.
And I have done all I can,
To serve you with the best...
Of hospitality I want you to get.
At least show me some respect.

I consider you and everyone else,
As my team mates.
Expecting you to clean up after yourselves.
To do hopefully before you leave.

'OH.
I thought you meant something else.'

Whatever I have mentioned,
Applies wherever any of us goes.
And this I have learned,
From my own thoughtless experiences.

Do not expect,
To be be served...
A delicious dinner and dessert.
As a team player requesting,
This and that passed.
Without earning points from the host.
To impress the most.
Then leave to believe,
You have earned the right to be invited...
Again.
Without it to ask,
If there anything needed left to do.
Before quickly heading towards a door,
Carrying several plates of wrapped food.

Learn to earn to keep your position,
As high as possible...
On invitation lists!

'Wow.
I apologize.
Did you want any of this.
Before I take it all?'

No.
That's okay.
I should have the dishes washed,
Dried and clean in a week.
And my home to remember as it was.
In a month.

'You're funny.
I love your exaggerations.
Thank you.
We all had a wonderful time,
Being invited to play on your time.
And personally,
I found your team player analogy...
Hysterical.
None of us could stop laughing.
Now we know,
Not to take you so seriously.
Everything was great. Thanks!
