The Struggle Within
The Struggle Within
From the uprising of the storm, like enemies of the land
Stirs inside of me a desire – to be the opposition of where they stand
But why do I still camp by them at night
Be a reverence for what they do
But deny their causes -- like Paul -- what I go thru
I’ve never shook my fist to God -- only cried at His feet
At least I hope He was present – I’ve tossed the notion in my sleep
Things are becoming less difficult now, but still not easy
I don’t always camp with “them” at night
Those desire have finally failed -- you must -- believe me
Perhaps now I’m seeing the light
Now here I am at the threshold of change
Compliant with my Savior, still slip here and there
However the most riskiest actions to my flesh and spirit
I’ve walked away from more than once, but pain I still feel it
I fill the emptiness Lord! Do repay my debts
All those I owe from the pain and torment I’ve caused
For this very struggle I’ve endured inside me with regrets
They may have thought I lied, they may have thought I haven’t tried
But You know my heart oh Lord – sometimes I thought to die
Like if You won’t change me, then take me
Whatever You decide – just do something to me
Now I’m that rose that grew where no sun has bathed
Withered, but standing – survived by the rain that came
I only want to be alone, so when I fail to change
When I should go straight, but turn back to where “they camp again”
So I won’t hurt those that love and trust me
As well bring these demons into their homes
For the love I have for them
They can’t see because of where I roam
But I can’t be alone when others need me
I am a man, I have to work, gather the grain for the table
All I can say to them is, please -- forgive me
I would help you from a distant, however we can understand
So my care is not your enemy
I’m sorry for whom I let get close -- to my struggle within
