unrequited love

it hurts to picture a future with you
it hurts to imagine that in some universe we could be together
but not in this one

it hurts to know that i will never kiss your lips
nor hold your hand
or dance a slow song with you
under the moonlight

it hurts to be afraid to tell you
how i really feel
it hurts to hide all these feeling
when i’m dying to shout them to the four winds

but the reason i don’t speak up,
is because it would hurt me more to know that what i feel
isn't mutual,
lose our friendship,
and not being able to listen to you talking
about your favorite stories
nor see you smile for hours
