Cremation

Come to my cremation
on logs of sandal wood.
Come see me dissolve
into perfumed smoke.

Come to my cremation
on a still beach.
See me fade into the air
the very air I stopped to breathe.
My breath, you have never felt.

Come to my cremation
with closed eyes see me float to the sky.
For, we have never seen
things the same way.

Come to my cremation.
Come see me taken by fire
when the fire inside has died.
For, I thought you were my fire.

Come to my cremation
come see me turn to ashes.
For, my body is all you've seen
and thought is me.

Come to my cremation
those who have seen my soul.
For, I will remain in peace in you.
As lessons, memories and thoughts.

Now that the soul and body have separated
I shall rest in peace in you.
