Wild Hare
John Jessup Kennan 1953 (Pomona)
There are cobwebs in the Batcave
Since Alfred passed away
Batman's got a pot-belly
And his hair is turning gray
Superman snorts kryptonite
He keeps his own powers at bay
Wonder Woman's wearing fishnets
Protection -- that's the price you pay
Tin Man was melted down into
A million little wingnuts
Scarecrow is a TempurPedic
For sacred butts of gym built sluts
The lion long since lost his pride
The lioness now runs amuck
And Dorothy ain't been the same
Since Toto ran under that truck
The eyes have all been dotted
The tees are double-crossed
Wonderland is beckoning
Whattaya say we go get lost?
Alice seems to like it there
And who can really blame her?
The party is on Mama here
And Daddy's with a flamer
Sister caught the first flight out
To the foggiest of notions
Packed her moods in a potion box
Conjured up a locomotion
We can pay protection rackets
To keep us safe here in this cell
We can run a counterfeit machine
And spend all over Hell
Or maybe it's Purgatory
Brimstone in a silver cup
If reality's enough for you
Then shut your mouth, and pony up
The eyes have all been dotted
The tees are double-crossed
Wonderland is beckoning
Whattaya say we go get lost?
Cobwebs hang like tribute banners
To Alfred's underground demise
Bruce Wayne has diverticulitis
Clark Kent's network spews its lies
The Raven snacked on Peter Parker
The Beast puts out the welcome mat
And Wonder Woman's butterfly tat
Clings to her breast like a vampire bat
The rabbit ears are all in place
There's nothing left to save
Bizarro World's full of heroes
Spidey's buried in the Batgrave
Cottontail so mysterious
Waggin' it down the road somewhere
Lead me to your bunny hole
I'll be your wild hare
The eyes have all been dotted
The tees are double-crossed
Wonderland is beckoning
Whattaya say we go get lost?
