The Hay Wain - Sonnet

"The Hay Wain, by John Constable, 1821,

                        Shakespearean Sonnet

Around the midst of noon the Hay wain led

and neap tide of the Stour shall make its way

The Irish setter whom once hath them sped,

Shall first then firmly pledge alert each day.

The hay wain with its widened eye espouse

Among Fagales, where aft the washer whose,

Dispersion she aerates with soothing dowse,

That life maintains the balance, win or lose.

At right-field of a scene the dirge who might,

Have given off its musings, may have done?

A dowager who might be shows its slight

May seem so very blurred, a hay wain shun.

Loud rings to Suffolk’s Stour, the river hast

Declined, this be aigrette shall hath outlast.
