I Thought

Bob Vavilis 1963 (Chios)

I thought you knew me
It’s not the first time I’ve been wrong
Maybe you loved me
But your heart’s been fickle from the start

And now we sit here
Gathering up fragments of our hearts
Love’s now a stranger
Who are we?
How did we fall?

Spring promises new beginnings
With blossoming flowers and new love
It’s up to both of us now
To rediscover us or move on

And now we sit here
Holding the fragments of our love
Will love remain a stranger?
What will become of us?

I thought you knew me
It’s not the first time I’ve been wrong
Do you still love me?
Your heart’s been fickle from the start

And now we sit here
Trying to discover what we’ve become
Sometime ago you loved me…
I thought, I thought…
I thought, I thought
