The Klepto

Joe was a wonderful young bird.
From Jersey.
Used to roam our Hollywood apartment building,
in his Fruit of the Looms.
Funny thing about Joe,
He would steal you blind.
Sometimes, when I knew he would drop by,
I would leave a dollar here, a fiver there.
Hidden around my studio apartment.
Joe would never disappoint.
Ten minutes in, the place was wiped clean.
I admired that about him.
He stayed true to himself.
Unfortunately, he stole from someone he shouldn’t have.
And that was it for Jersey Joe.
They dumped his body behind the Whiskey.
He had no money on him.
I went to the morgue to identify his body.
And left a ten-dollar bill.
