Analysis of My Nanay Anita (My Grandmother Anita)

Remembering the times we had;
It fills the space in my head.
The space I never knew existed.

I sing. I dance.
Quick and slow.
creates the melody of life
with a gentle flow;
the keys of your song,
fascinated my soul.

"Music carry us back in time;
The happiest and the saddest
moments of ourlives" she said.

Five decades as a teacher;
We all appreciate you,
for expressing
yourself through teaching and music.
You inspire me.
You inspire us.

I remember you singing,
some of your notes
are high, some are low.
Invokes an emotion unknown,
lingering on my mind
your sweet yet intoxicating cologne.

I remember as a child,
being my gradeschool music teacher.
You always encourage me to play piano,
I ain't good at it, but you always do.

Just like music,
you have the ability to make us smile,
bring us all the type of tears,
and release our tyranny of conscious
thoughts for awhile—

I always think of you in silence,
I always thought of you with love,
You gave me energy
and stronger sense of purpose.
I always loved you,
ever since I could remember.

You fought for us all
in one way or another.
You've sacrificed a lot.
You did your best as a
wife, mother, grandmother
and a teacher.

As I close my eyes tonight,
there's this emotion
flowing in out of me;
in my heart's depth,
I want you to know that,
you fulfill every part of me.

Damsel Salatan

We never know how high we are Till we are called to rise; And then, if we are true to plan, Our statures touch the skies— The Heroism we recite Would be a daily thing, Did not ourselves the Cubits warp For fear to be a King— From 'We Never Know How High We Are' (1176) by Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) more…
