Analysis of Pessimistic Express

E.S. Conway 1985 (United Kingdom)

Take a flight of fancy, to a past tale
where failures win and successors fail.
pessimistic express, all aboard please
we take you nowhere but still charge the fees

your journey is winding, twisting and long
like music with no melody or a tune with no song
as long as it takes and as hard as you try
in the end you've gone nowhere the worlds passed you by

so all aboard please the pessimistic express
to the future of regret, despair and excess
the land of the scared the home of the weak
we've arrived once again at pessimist peak

E.S. Conway

A poet by proxy of therapy. Her works (with only a couple of exceptions) are comprised of poems written in a form of therapy diary, they served for several years as an aid to dealing with situations that may or may not be within the poems themselves. This is also the reason for so much rhyming; though not necessary for poetry, it was part of what made poetry therapeutic for her and so is an almost certain constant. more…
