Analysis of Roses Are Red and I’m Dead

Taj Selectman 2004 (Independence)

The generic story goes: roses are red.
Violets are blue.
Honey is sweet, and so are you.
But that's not true, you must be a fool.
You never had the police target you.
Ready to take your life with that deadly tool.
As they sit in court thinking everythings all cool.
Rising up while the judge says they not guilty.
Man O Man how our judicial system is so filthy.
Locking away Afircan American men.
In that crooked system you will never win.
Dark red blood soaking into black pavement.
White man standing up trying to give a statement.
Saying he was resisting which made him a threat.
Except the only threat was being black.
Because once you're born black that red and white target is put on your back.
And no matter if you got a map.
The police won’t think twice about having you cap’d.
