Analysis of Grandpa
DENISE FREEMAN 1978 (San Marcos, TX)
It's been so long since you've been gone,
not a day goes by that I don't miss you.
I only wish we'd spent more time together,
then I wouldn't have this empty hole in my heart.
You were like the father that I never had,
and part of me died the day I lost you.
I'm sorry that I haven't been out to see you,
but it hurts realizing that you're gone.
I kept looking for a guy like you,
kind, giving, loving, imperfect, willing to overlook imperfections.
I finally found a guy like you,
all you ever wanted for him to do is make me happy and he does, everyday.
I miss you, Grandpa, everyday, so very much.
The only comfort I can take is that I know you are watching over me.
I wish that you had gotten to see your great-grandsons grow up and turn into young men.
