Analysis of His Gift

Twas three days before Christmas, and wasn't it sad,
Last minute shopping was driving me mad!
Who needs a present? What kind of gift?
My spirit was sagging, I needed a lift!

When what to my wondering soul did appear?
It wasn't a sleigh, it wasn't reindeer.
Instead of Santa – the "Jolly Old Elf",
My vision showed Jesus – The Savior Himself!

My spirit was lifted, my soul – it did soar!
My heart new the love of the Savior, for sure!
I learned a new way, a new reason to give,
It's not about presents, it's about how you live!

He came to this Earth, He followed the plan,
He gave us His life so we could understand.
This Christmas season, let's all learn anew.
We celebrate Christ and his gift just for you.

-It was just before Christmas 2012, and I was in a deep blue funk. Everywhere I turned people weretalking about buying this, or hoping  to get thatfor Christmas. I was so tired of the commercializationof the celebration of the birth of the Savior, that I decided then and there I needed to write somethingto combat the greedy spirit that was so prevalent. This is what came out.
