Analysis of I Was My Mother's Consequence

I have now served my purpose
And am now done with your harm
Although I can still feel it
Deep within my heart
I dream of you holding me again
With love and reassurance
But then I remember the person you are
And how you used us
I tore down your world
as you tore mine
In hopes that it would make you kind
But all you found after
just continued to make you blind
With a young innocent mind
Unbenounced to the truth
You created scars in me
That I can only see in you
I thought the tears I would cry
Would make it untrue
You used me although
I still see myself in you
I hope my absence hurt
I hope it showed you truth
I will never be the same
Because of how you destroyed my youth
I'm not sorry I left
And I don't wish you were here
Now that you’re off with your new family
I’ll just disappear
Although now I’m living with love
I can say I succeeded

I wasn't the daughter you wanted
but I was the daughter you needed
