Analysis of When I Questioned God

I asked my God to see me through
and guide my life his way.
His answer was, I always do,
it's you who goes astray.
I mentioned how I always pray
and listen to his word.
That's good, he said, But do you stay
to know if I've been heard?
This question made no sense to me,
I knew not what to do.
I prayed some more so I could see
what he would have me do.
He said, You are not hearing child,
You listen with your ears,
Your heart is lost, my words defiled,
that's why your full of tears.
I turned away, not knowing why,
God had forsaken me,
But then I heard my Jesus cry,
My blood I shed for thee.
