Analysis of Walk on through
The shadowy night stole my soul,
it left me taut and unyielding.
I submit to the dark, though it tears me apart,
as the moonlight shines on the buildings.
This chaotic land takes a hold of my hand,
it leads me alone in the night.
The pavement is stark, there are eyes in the dark,
and the glow of the streetlights can't hide me.
All the alleyways stare and the headlights all glare
from the cars on the roadside behind me.
All the scuttling sounds of the feet on the ground
where the street is a world full of mystery.
The footsteps subside, their echo has died,
veiled in the cloak of the evening.
The dogs seem to bay, as they beg for the day
to awaken from its state of dreaming.
