Analysis of This Morning

As I awoke with fog-clouded brain
And mind ever-wandering,
I realized I needed to listen:

Listen with my nose;
Listen with my eyes;
Listen with my ears;
Listen with my heart,
For those things which arrive unnannounced;

A touch; a smile; a look; caring; respect;
A word; a poem which touches me
In a way I didn't think anything ever could;

I need to listen beyond the words,
To the feelings, the passion, the thoughts;
What it meant, and what it means
To me or someone else;

This morning, I woke up to what and who I really need to be.
