Analysis of The Visitor
Hugs, dirty laundry, and his left-over snacks
were greeted with joy.
"Where have you been? How long can you stay?"
shuffling with "How have you been?" "What have
you been up to?" took most of the first day.
Hot water was scarce after showers, and
washer loads of clothes and dirty dishes.
Driving to the local sites, purchases at stores,
adjusting car seats, passengers shifted to
take turns sitting by him in the front.
Cooking together (each making one dish)
consuming, tasting new flavors, relishing
the differences and different television shows,
different viewpoints, generations
shake each other with new perspectives.
Clean clothes packed, new snacks, hugs and well wishes
are followed by silence, void, meditation, sleep.
Come back, soon!
