Analysis of Quest
I, nomad travel thrusting dagger deep, into the cold night
Dancing apparitions of firefly beacons wane
A mirage in my wake, an afterglow, lingering just out of sight
A vision quest of inspiration, a desire for fire or for a flame
To rid this blizzard of bitterness, a coldness within my heart light
As I wander, thoughts of madness, traverse their own wilds, quenching for tame
Yet, I journey on…sinister dark clouds follow with roving evil eyes bright
And my demon shadows rim horned, mischief spying game
Dart in and out as they too, are lead into the blind
Sandstorms, misgivings and doubt kick up their dust brave
Caverns, refuge for a time
I stop and worship the passing idols to shed myself of shames
And yet the warmth still eludes, its peace I cannot find
But, the question of the ages, a burdeness strain
One always asks of thy self and kind
Who am I, in this mortal frame?
Seeking inquiries, I turn into the wind
Journey forth to chase the unknown again
Under my breath I curse the veil inside
That keeps the knowledge from my being, restrained
Although the Prophets carry a sacred book where wisdom abides
From which the words can give me strength and ease my pains
It is the double edged tempered steel blade
From which I will reap, through unforgiving thorn fields of gray
Each one tipped in poisons of my own sins and graves
But, to keep me from my journeys end, a black darkening misty way
At the foot of the mountain, a shroud swathes the valley of death and its roads black they are paved
The last chance chasms, after which the oracle’s mystery does exist in fame
Readers of this quest, breach this page, and take hold of the brass ring engraved
Lift me up onto the mountain top, where the Gods dwell in myth and name
Where I can plead for mercy and forgiveness that my spirit shall one day soon be saved
