Martyrs of terrorism – © 23rd Sept.2016 by Abhinav Srivastava
(A tribute to Indian Army Soldiers Killed in Terrorist Attack on Army base in Uri in India on 19th Sept.2016 in Jammu & Kashmir) –Copy submitted for Poetry.com
They come into our homes and kill us time and again
And all we do is talk, negotiate and refrain,
Till how long we hope that these killings will stop on its own,
And let politics of terrorism make us gullible & naïve that we don’t even groan.
They are the ones who fight for us and our country
Is there life so cheap and sundry?
That we allow our enemies to mow them down
For no other reason than just to create a frown.
How long these martyrs’ families should suffer?
Knowing that their country did not provide them enough succor
All they want is that we avenge their loved ones
But instead we give them only some medals and assurance crumbs.
Why would anybody come forward to defend us and our country?
When we are afraid to raise our voices to such indulgence in terrorist debauchery,
And let our innocent and brave soldiers die for no reason
While we all sleep soundly and by keeping quiet commit the biggest treason.
If we are not cowards and if the blood still flows in our veins
Then let’s act now to show that we feel their pain and we shall no more feign,
That we shall do as much as we can to bring peace to their mind
And let our enemy know that when we take to avenging our loved ones we are not kind.
Talking about retribution for our enemies on What’s App and Twitter
We are just not doing enough and behaving like quitters,
Immediate action is required on our part
Forcing the authorities to let a team of avengers for the enemy territory depart
Let’s give back our enemies their own medicine
And let them know that they have to pay for their sin
We shall not tolerate these terrorist acts any more
And every time we will bring the fight to their door.
Tolerance has been our strength and often used as a weapon
But when smell of cowardice emits from this weapon and consequently deaths happen
It’s time to act and clean and sharpen our weapon
And use to it to show our enemies that if challenged anything can happen.
Let’s us teach our enemies that we will not go away quietly in the night or dawn raids
We will strike back and avenge our loved ones and to fight back we are not afraid,
Our country believes in non-violence and tolerance as a tradition
But to preserve peace & safety of our people we will not hesitate to use the right ammunition.
