Analysis of Lineshack cowboy
Twas a long lonely ride to the lineshack,
he'd just barely make it 'fore dark.
And it was getting on close to the winter,
he hoped that his matches would spark.
Didn't mind cold chuck in the daytime,
but at night he'd like something warm.
It set just right on the stomach,
the feeling would hold him till dawn.
In the day you worked up to the workload,
there's fences and cattle to tend.
But at night coming back to the lineshack,
you thought of warm meals at days end.
Old Cooky was left at the Main House,
his meals a tolerable fare.
But that was two days to the Southward,
it would be awhile till he was there.
No kind of life for the married,
best done by those riding alone.
That way you have just the short memories,
the same ones you'll have when back home.
