Analysis of It Wasn't Worth It

It Wasn't Worth It

As time slowly past and we became lovers
I could not imagine, you with another

So I took your hand and fell to one knee,
Pledging devotion to you and me

My happiness; is what made you smile
Your happiness; was being with child

Our love for each other, was a powerful force
It could not be distracted by some unknown source

Everything that we did, we did it together
We did it for love, we did it forever

We had our struggles, like all people do
Nothing is perfect, with the exception of you

I bought a house and you made a home
Fit for a queen, and I worshiped your throne

It was and honor; to protect, and to serve you
We made passionate love; through the night, with no curfew

I Know all of your favorites; the things you adoore
Your ticklish spots and cute little snore

Then..., and now

One year, two years, three years have gone
I'm still in the mirror, what have I done

I feel dark clouds of sorrow; blue drops of rain
And I, am responsible for all this pain

"I surrendered my treasure
for one night of pleasure
Traded one night of lust
For unconditional trust
Put us in danger
For the warmth of a stranger
Choosing the scent of another
Over a good mother
You didn't deserve this
It wasn't worth it"

Despite all my promise; and sincere remorse
The damage was done, then came the divorce

My constant calling, begging and pleading
Will not bring you back, or undo my cheating

As I stare in this mirror, to face my truth
My life seems so worthless, I'm missing you

Until God grants the power to rewind endless time
I will move on; and I hope that I find

Someone as true and matchless as you
I have my doubts, there's only one you
