Analysis of It Could Have been Most Anything

It Could Have Been Most Anything

It could have been a fantasy. It could have been a dream.
It could have been a fallacy or some kooky theme.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a crazy scheme.

It could have been a psychopath. It could have been a nut.
It could have been a lunacy or some scuttlebutt.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a hidden rut.

It could have been chateaubriand. It could have been a scrod.
It could have been an artifice or some false façade.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a big charade.

It could have been an elephant. It could have been a whale.
It could have been an invention or some fairy tale.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a betrayal.

It could have been a basketball. It could have been a bat.
It could have been a guttersnipe or some urchin brat.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a real combat.

It could have been an aperitif. It could have been Rhine wine.
It could have been an aberrance or some conga line.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a weird design.

It could have been most anything. It could have been a filch.
It could have been a ding-a-ling or some banal zilch.
Whatever it turns out to be it's a chilly squelch.
