Analysis of I Don't Understand

A new page of life hits the fan.
I won't erase it from my memory.
Smoke is billowing from my heart,
because it has burned so long.
Charred pieces come to life,
And there you are with your hand out.

There is something about you
And I can't quite put my finger on it.
You bring out the light in me,
And I don't understand it.

You've imprinted words
into my tortured mind,
And I don't understand it.
I feel the day with no more night.

Do I deserve his kind?
To be lifted up again?
I don't understand you.
