Analysis of Galapagos - The Jewels

Teal upon gray with a puff of white,
the sky is beautiful and grim at sight.
Lifeless standing like thorns; trees,
in rocky soil among plush green leaves.
In the clearing mate two tortoises unaware,
of an onlooker's interest and piercing stare.
Bigger than a small child from head to toe,
the over-sized male towering above with head low.
both arms cradled on the female's back snug,
from another view it looks like a hug.
Typical this season on these lovely islands,
that has its array of tropical animal blends.
Reptiles reign free and truly supreme,
large crater half of landscape it may seem.
Yet, underwater it is thriving with fish,
too varied to name; not all safe on a dish.
Water shooting thick up from the rocks high,
wondering if more than mist reach the sky.
Flamingos flocking to waters to bathe awhile,
alongside a sea lion who swims with a smile.
