Analysis of from merbein to cairns in eight days

this poem has many towns mention on the eastern side of australia,

This poem was about a trip to cairns (qld) from merbein (vic)
with some friends (me, lil, guru, ray and baz, …2 cars, one motor bike
 and 4 dogs) MAY 1987

FROM MERBEIN TO CAIRNS IN EIGHT DAYS
(the merbein grapeoligists great escape from the vines of sunraysia)

SO, WE LEFT THAT PLACE CALLED MERBEIN
WITH A YIPPIE AND A HIP HIP HOORAY!
ON WAY TO A PLACE WE HAVE NOT SEEN
AND WE LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF MAY

DROVE THROUGH BALRANALD, HAY AND GOOLGOWIE
WYALONG, FORBES AND PARKES WE DID NOT GET TO KNOW
WE DROVE ALL NIGHT; THERE WAS NOT MUCH TO SEE
BUT IN THE MORNING WE STOPPED AT WEST DUBBO

WE GAVE GILGANDERA, GUNNEDAH AND TAMWORTH A MISS
AND WE STOPPED OVERNIGHT SOMEWHERE NEAR DORRIGO
AT COFTS HARBOUR; WE ONLY STOPPED FOR A p*ss
THEN WENT ON OUR WAY TO GRAFTON AND CASINO

SAW THE TOWNSHIPS OF KYOGLE AND WOODENBONG
AND I GOT ASSULTED IN KILLARNEY BY A COWBOY
ON OUR WAY TO WARRICK, GURU SANG A SONG
AND THROUGH TOOWOMBA I LISTENED WITH JOY

HAD A LOOK AT DALBY, KINGAROY AND MURGON
AND WE COULD NOT FIND LYRUP DAVE IN GAYNDAH
WE CONTINUED ON BY MONTO, BILOEA AND ROCKHAMPTON
AND WE EVEN WENT CLOSE TO A TOWN CALLED BANANA

WE WENT THROUGH MCKAY AND PROSERPINE WITHOUT A CARE
AND AT BOWEN, WE STAYED AT POMMIE JOHN'S OVERNIGHT
THEN WE QUIETLY BREEZED THROUGH A TOWN CALLED AYR
AND WE GAVE TOWNSVILLE A REALLY BIG FRIGHT

WE DID NOT BOTHER ABOUT SEEING INGHAM OR TULLY
AND AT INNISFALL WE ONLY STOPPED FOR A sh*t
THEN AS WE APPROACHED CAIRNS DOWN IN THE GULLY
WE KNEW THEN THAT WE HAD FINNALLY MADE IT!!!!
