Analysis of Food For Thought (song)

You may be wondering
Why there's no dinner tonight
We just need to understand
What other shoes feel like

We should thank our lucky stars
That we have what we do everyday
Sometimes all we need
Is to just step back and say

Think of all the people
Dying for the peace they sought
No meal to fuel their cause
This our food tonight

Food for thought

For billions of souls
Peace and prosperity
An occasional dream
A seldom reality

We take so much for granted
Not realizing how much we owe
To neighbors in need
What do we know?

Our sisters and brothers
Caught in war and strife
Just a spirit and their life
This our food tonight

Food for thought

Why me? For what reason
Am I born into this fate
Soul switching
Just one second late...

Hey, what'cha see?
All around us, liberty!
Rid us of these ideas
That control humanity

Too often people resort
To the power of the knife
But someday, we hope and pray
We'll be low on ammo

And high on life

So tonight, we gaze
At starry skies across the world
Our hopes our dreams
Our fears they seem to disappear

And we all try to find the peace
We have sought in life
And the only power now
Not sword or gun or knife

Is food for thought.

Hey, some of these aren't that great but what the heck. I just like writing how I feel in the moment so some of my poems might be confusing because I was confused in that moment. Maybe thats why I wanted to write a poem, to sort out my thoughts. Anyway, just read them and hopefully just one of them will bring you some kind of joy, or make you feel some kind of connection. Peace.>>>I also do star photography - probably why space works its way into a lot of my writing. http://mcb-photography.blogspot.com/ more…
