Analysis of Desert Stainless
That’s what the billboard ad said, anyway,
along the freeway heading out of town.
Coming after “Girls Of Rock N Roll”
and “Hottest Slots”, it seemed appropriate.
Not just the dicey, spicy, sex-on-a-platter,
tawdry flatware of the town, I thought,
but something cleaner. No real harm in Vegas,
nothing, at least, with which one's spirit can’t cope.
But solitary pleasures are the best.
Why share the crowd with the crowd?
Better to share a world with none than with all.
Better alone with yourself than alone with others.
Next time, when the flock flies south, I think
I'll head out north, into the desert stainless.
