Analysis of December Hearts

We're both standing on the front porch
Our hearts suspended above us
Like a strand of Christmas lights
The rising sun knots its rays
Throughout brunette hair
And warms the hands that have lain so perfectly still
Would you hold mine?
I tremble silently beneath my skin
Praying he never hears my racing heart
Cursing December for being so cold
The shivers loud as crashing waves
My eyes wander to their corners, again
For they refuse to look at the beauty of Winter
When something.. someone.. so much more
Beautiful, is standing so close
Oh, he's closer than the snowfall
Yet he feels farther than the Spring
