In the loneliness of the night, when stars ask for guidance,
my thoughts respond with words of encouragement and kindness,
for I am too familiar with the emotions of
selfish people who take all and rarely reciprocate.

Stars, you shine your virtue and rectitude like Athena,
a goddess and philanthropist, who cared more for others.
Moon, you teach me manners - your pendant face always smiling,
with grace and love. Soon you’ll all be gone, and I’ll be alone.

As sky takes on light, my mood like the moon, tires of night-time.
Like sun, I yearn to be up for fear my droll tenor will
morph into feelings of depression and degradation,
emotions at this hour so unwelcome but so wonted.

Dawn appears in all her splend’rous glory – purply-blue hues.
Soft, sultry breezes blow away all mind’s morbidity,
transposing my thoughts now to reflect on how fortunate
I am, to live such an amazing life – a gift from God.

How dare I not - be happy!
