Analysis of Around, Around I Go
Around, Around I Go
Over the hills
and through the dale
around
and round I go.
There she be
a little lass
as pure as driven snow.
For
I can see her in her gown
standing off the weathered moor.
As I go round
and round again
off the Scottish cove.
She waits for her true love
to come home from the war.
He left his home
in the highland hills
to fight against the Boers.
Off
he went
with the legionnaires
to the desert lands
in the cover of night.
Some say
he left her just in time
to be foot loose and free.
The words forever told
he went for the true meaning
of liberty.
As she stands
there all in white
off the Scottish moor.
While I go round
and round
like I did once before.
For the Scottish air
upon my wings
has taken me there
above the shore.
As I am the man
that went off to war
with my legion against the Boers.
