Analysis of Don’t Wait

Terrance Coleman 1983 (Queens, NY)

I was at work and you came to mind
The words never said
Cause of selfishness of mine
Thinking that we would have more time
To share our feelings
The good, bad, and ugly
Didn't believe this would happen
Now knowing it's not fine.

Days of the past were so much fun
Not hearing your laugh
Seeing you smile
Is waking me up
Not being able to recover
From the fact that nothing last forever.

I know that you're at peace
With those we lost
Partying in heaven
Finally happy
Cause you paid your cost
I know you're final wish
Is that we be there for each other
Aunts, uncles, cousins, mothers, sisters, and brothers.

Don't let the last thing said
Be too late
Let's commune as a family
Regardless of what was done then
We have to focus on now
You never know when your time is coming
Don't wait.
