Analysis of Perfect Life

A perfect life,
Of unmitigated, general bliss,
As far as this life is concerned,
As best as I can tell,
Consists of this:
To be able to watch the world go by
On a sunny summer day,
And to know that good times are ahead,
And to wake up each day
As if it was Christmas morning.
Soothing, refreshing, calming, delightful.
These are feelings I have felt before;
And they are the reflections of a struggling Brother,
Lost in the desert, longing to be home;
Wishing for times gone by;
Clinging to the past;
Wavering between hope and despair.
One day I hope
To look back laughingly on these words
And wonder what I could possibly have been thinking when I wrote them.
For now,
I must content myself, with reflecting on the best times,
Taking stock of my life, looking forward into the future,
Not content with things as they are;
Swimming breathlessly towards the shore.
