Analysis of just an old man

Just an old.man,
tired, hot, dishevelled
out for a walk in the sun.
breathing hard, unsteady, unsure,
as in a moment of terror,
his heart explodes through his body.

Just an old man,
feels in slow motion,
as his body crumples,
and hands don't reach,
out in time to break the fall,
as sirens wail,
as blue lights flash,
he watches the clouds scud overhead
" is he ok" distant voices,
" here they come now" fading,
" you'll be ok mate, just relax"

Just an old man,
with blurring vision.
eyes now closing,
drifting away,
hungry, scared,
almost gone,
heart pounding,
lying on the pavement,
on the corner by the park,
on a summers day in Archway.
