Le cabaret qui n'est pas neuf
Est bondé des plus vieux ivrognes
Dont rouge brique sont les trognes
Entre les grands murs sang de boeuf.
L'un d'entre eux, chenu comme un oeuf,
D'une main sur la table cogne,
Et, son verre dans l'autre, il grogne :
' Aussi vrai que j'suis d'Châteauneuf !
J'reste un bon coq, et l'diab' me rogne !
Je r'prendrais femm' si j'dev'nais veuf. '
' Dam ! moi, fait le père Tubeuf,
J'suis ben dans mes quatre-vingt-neuf :
Et j'm'acquitte encor de ma b'sogne ! '
