Analysis of You Know Your Name
If you were to say you were sorry
Would you gouge your eyes out for me
To unsee what I’ve seen
Would you cut your tongue
To forget what I’ve tasted
The vile blood, venomous and crucifying
IF YOU WERE TO SAY SORRY
THE LAND OF THE DARK MEMORIES
WOULD SHATTER THE COVENANT
REACH THE BLACK SKY AND SAY
YOU WERE RIGHT YOU WERE YOUNG
I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT
I DO NOT THINK MUCH OF YOU
I wish my pain was bottled
So I could shatter it and sweep it away
Let it wash in the rain-bled streets
And sink down the drain, without remorse
I’m only half a man and most of a boy
I hide my lips and spill my words to a mirror
But I’m not the one pointing the finger
DID YOU KNOW THAT IT WAS YOU
DID YOU THINK OF THE IMPLICATIONS
WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO SAY
EVERY THOUGHT CARRIES A TOURNIQUET
AND I’M TRYING TO DROWN THE BLEEDING
BUT YOUR NAME BRINGS HATRED
Not only for you
But for me letting you stomp over me
For letting you bring death to me
For letting you live in death
When was the last time
You soaked in the sun
Or has life been your cage
Like the one you chained me to
