Analysis of THE APPRENTICE

Iyabode Obafemi 1989 (Jos)

Oh master! Bid me farewell!
My clock with you no longer ticks.
I no longer feel well
In fact, I feel very sick.

Oh master! keep me no more!
I've stayed with you for a reason.
Yet you let me suffer with sores.
Let me go! Am done with this season.

Oh master! Set me free!
Your shadows Held me in obscurity.
Yet you do not see.
Now, I no longer enjoy security.

Oh master! lose my chains!
I have done the work thoroughly
And for me, things must change
Because I served you faithfully.

Oh master! Send me forth!
I was brought to you as a protege.
See how I have sprang forth
to become a prodigy.

Oh master!  It is now time!
You just have to let go of me.
I have reached my prime
Let me go and be.

Oh master! I say goodbye!
I was not meant to be kept
for this long but to pass bye
to a land where I will not weep.
