Analysis of She

She brings me rest in the midst of malaise
Her beauty dances in a cloud of smoke
Permeating dark corners of the day
Breathing into me, begging to elope
So warm on my tongue, each kiss is new hope
Swelling from my lungs to burst through my eyes
A loving sunrise shines ‘cross my heart’s globe
Her leave shows me all which I need despise

My only fear is my pocket’s bottom
Knowing too well her love is for ransom
Wishing as well that it become common
Yet not for others to share my cancer
She always was an easily wooed damsel
I would that she stay and lay forever
Ever retrieving me from space and time
This moment I sever the tether

My curse is that I will always find love
It comes about wheresoever I stray
Seeks out and quenches any lack thereof
She takes any shape and wears any face
Leaving me to chase ever without trace
Man’s greatest lot in life is loneliness
And the truth is never to be outpaced
But to know love is to know nothing less

Circumnavigating this addiction
My shaking hand is always left empty
Clenching it has become my ambition
My dearest friend, please don’t let me be free
