Analysis of Ghetto Philosopher
Deborah Renta 1967 (Philadelphia)
He was a philosopher with the ghetto mind
hustling was his grind.
He always looked good in the hood so he sold drugs and became a thug.
He wasn’t always a thug.
He came from a good family and was shown love.
He was intellectually gifted. Malcolm X and Dr. King he respected. He chose to use his intellect for the ways of the hood. He dedicated his mind to nothing good.
His gun and his blunt are who he trusted
Unfortunately he got caught slinging drugs and was busted.
The penitentiary became his home. Where he felt cold and alone. He learned to be a predator or be preyed upon.
He commits a heinous act of violence for respect. Life in prison he didn’t expect. A lifer for the rest of his young life. He takes a man and makes him his prison wife. That’s the way of prison life.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. A brilliant mind thrown away in haste. Dedicated to prison life. They found him hanging in a prison shower where he chose to take his life.
His body is cold as His soul leaves his body he watches his body swing side to side. he wonders was it all worth losing his life.
