Analysis of Hope

I paced through the corridor, an endless fight
My mind had me drowning in the wrong from the right
The peach fuzz from your cheekbone kept me up all night
And I am frozen stiff from your irresistible sight

From your heartbreak, I fled town, seeking truth
But all my hope washed away from my fountain of youth
And keeping tabs on self-harm and my eating, too
I slowly crumble, what did you do?

And I know it’s all over and your heart had built other plans
But the plans I had were built from your strong hands

Holding onto hope because that’s what we said
But all this hope makes me keep wishing I was just dead
And my grave
Here to stay
I am suffering here today

Lovely day to be alive, or so you’d say
But I am here like a dead rose just wilting away
And you, my friend, the one I lost, couldn’t find the time to stay
I lost your contact, what a sad day

And I know it’s all over and your heart had built other plans
But the plans I had were built from your strong hands

Holding onto hope because that’s what we said
But all this hope makes me keep wishing I was just dead
And my grave
Here to stay
I am suffering here today

Maybe you changed your mind to quickly
Maybe I should have been wise
But maybe we were supposed to last
And you’re not hearing my cries
My mind stays
On replay
I am suffering here today

And you told me I’m the best damn thing that has ever happened
I’m barely alive, oh, this day is ever saddened
I am torn apart
Broken heart
I lost it all in the dark

Seems like days just drag on, it never fails
So I’m here hoping maybe you’d love me if I were frail
Searching for someone new to have and to hold
But the spiral’s so steep that I end up alone

But I keep my head up
Because it’s not over yet
And I am flooded with ideas
To get out of this bed
You just can’t get me down
Because I run the town
In your head

Holding onto hope because that’s what we said
But all this hope makes me keep wishing I was just dead
And my grave
Here to stay
I am suffering here today

Holding onto hope because that’s what we said
But all this hope makes me keep wishing I was just dead
And my grave
Here to stay
I am suffering here today
