Analysis of Light in the Eyes
Radiant and bright, like brown tourmaline,
Were those eyes that glistened like gems in light,
And could brighten a room even at night,
With a friendly look, gentle and serene.
By peering into them it could be seen,
A kind innocence left untouched by blight,
Which was always such a marvelous sight,
Like windows into a soul pure and clean.
But something changed, and I do not know why,
Like something suddenly darkened inside;
As an eclipse blackens the daytime sky,
A gloom came and caused the light to subside;
And all I could give was a mournful sigh,
Seeing that the child had not grown but died.
